If you think you are having a heart attack, it's important to call 9-1-1 and have an ambulance take you to a Memorial Hospital. Every minute matters when it comes to your heart, and the EMS team can start treatment before you even get to the emergency department. Common symptoms of heart attack include squeezing or full sensation in the chest; pain in the arms, stomach, or neck; lightheadedness; dizziness; nausea, and/or fatigue.
Kids aren’t just small adults!
With age-specific developmental needs and weight-based treatments, it’s important to have experienced pediatric nurses and physicians who know children – inside and out – and kid-sized equipment. Kid-friendly amenities also help make your child’s experience a little bit less scary at Memorial Belleville and Memorial East.
We care for pediatric emergencies including:
- Minor injuries
- Asthma and respiratory illnesses
- Belly pain
- Broken bones
- Cuts, scrapes and sprains
In cases where more specialized care is required, the team will quickly arrange for transport to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Memorial Hospital Belleville Accreditations and Designations
The Emergency Department is also an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Chest Pain Center. Plus, we’re the Southwestern Illinois Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Resource Hospital and the Regional Hospital Coordination Center; in the event of a disaster, area EMS departments will count on Memorial to help out. Memorial Hospital Belleville is the also only hospital in the Metro East to be recognized as a Magnet®-designated facility.
